From Birdguides, a pair of Garganey, on flooded fields north of the Duke’s Head (just south of Timsbury gravel pits).
These small, summer visiting ducks are nationally scarce, and this is a good local record. The male is a subtle combination of greys and browns, with a cream-coloured stripe above its eye.
Also, of possibly captive origin, a female Red-crested Pochard reported on a roadside pool just south of there, at Greatbridge.
